Trump’s newly-appointed interim US attorney in Los Angeles offered a post-trial plea deal to a former sheriff’s deputy, Trevor Kirk, who was convicted of using excessive force on a Black woman during a shoplifting investigation. The plea deal would change the felony conviction to a misdemeanor and could reduce the potential 10-year sentence down to one.
