Marquardt recalled, “We walked in and it was just a disaster in there.. There’s just so much junk.” Madison added, “It was just hoarder-style,” likening Hefner’s setting to that of someone with “a mattress on the floor.”
Crystal Hefner, Hugh’s last wife, provided further insight in her memoir, "Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself," describing their sexual encounters as mechanical: “This was a well-oiled and well-practiced sequence of events.” She noted a preference for having sex alone with Hefner, to avoid associating other music with the environment. Kendra Wilkinson supported these claims in her memoir, stating, “I had to be very drunk or smoke lots of weed to survive those nights.”
Sondra Theodore described her own harrowing relationship with Hefner, revealing his insatiable demands: “I might as well have been a vibrator.. nobody knew the hell I was in.” These testimonies paint a troubling picture of life at the Playboy Mansion, marked by exploitation and a lack of autonomy for the women involved.
