On "The Daily Beast" podcast, Wolff reported Trump’s remarks following the visa announcements, stating, "I remember a time, don’t you remember a time when you can go to an American college and not see any Asians? Wolff suggested that this comment reflects Trump’s desire for a return to the era before the Civil Rights Act of 1965, asserting that many Americans share that bygone perspective. In response to Wolff’s comments, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung denounced him as a "lying sack of s—" and "a fraud," alleging he fabricates stories driven by what Cheung termed "Trump Derangement Syndrome." Trump previously criticized Wolff for suggesting he harbors resentment towards Harvard for not being accepted, declaring on Truth Social that Wolff is a "third-rate reporter" regarded poorly even by mainstream media.
