Eric Dane Reveals He Only Has ‘One Functioning Arm’ Amid ALS Battle

For the first time since he went public with his heartbreaking ALS diagnosis, Eric Dane is opening up in a candid new interview about the toll the disease is already taking on him and his family. He tells ABC’s Diane Sawyer he first begam having symptoms about a year and a half ago, when he noticed some weakness in his right hand. Nine months later, he was finally diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, which progressively kills the nerves that connect to the muscles. Dane says his right arm has completely stopped working and the left is “going” as well. His rock has been his wife Rebecca Gayheart. They married in 2004 and then separated in 2018, but now Eric says they recently reconciled.
