George Floyd’s first cousin, Dr. Shareeduh McGee reflects on the state of police reform five years after Floyd’s murder and says that fear Floyd could be forgotten keeps her fighting for change. As the president of the Nine2Nine Foundation, named after the 9 minutes and 29 seconds a police officer knelt on Floyd’s neck, McGee says she mentors young people, speaks at schools and engages in city council meetings to make sure Floyd is remembered.
